Duisburg-Rheinhausen-based company Langen Feuerungsbau, partner for special fire-resistant doors, fire fittings, inspection hatches and inspection openings, are impressively fair when it comes to warranty periods. ‘We are convinced of the high quality of our products, which is why we can afford to offer flexible warranty periods that take the construction phase into account,’ says Managing Director Anja Vogt. For example, it occasionally happens that the access doors, manholes or inspection openings manufactured by Langen Feuerungsbau have already been delivered and installed for several months by the time a firing system or power plant is commissioned – in many cases, the warranty period would have expired before this happens. ‘Not with us. For the benefit of our customers, we offer flexible warranty periods and warranty extensions for long-term construction projects – always provided that, in the intervening period, our products are stored and installed professionally, and that these processes are properly documented during commissioning,’ adds Managing Director Karsten Vogt, who is also Operations Manager. These flexible warranty periods are backed up by an insurance company with promises known as guarantee bonds.
Speaking of warranties, it is also standard practice at Langen Feuerungsbau to use advance payment guarantees in order to safeguard advance payments. ‘An advance payment guarantee serves to minimise the risk to our customers of an advance payment that has been made being lost if we do not fulfil our contractual obligations. In that event, the guarantor – in our case an insurance company – would take over repayment of the down payment to the customer,’ explains Anja Vogt. Advance payment guarantees are particularly common for large projects in power plant construction, where contractors such as Langen Feuerungsbau often require advance payments for the procurement of materials or for pre-financing of projects.
‘Once we have fulfilled our contractual obligations, the guarantee will be released upon completion of the project. For our customers, this minimises their financial risk and provides security when making advance payments. For us, when we receive an advance payment, it ensures increased liquidity,’ says Karsten Vogt. ‘We are happy that we are able to strengthen our competitiveness by providing advance payment guarantees and thus security for our customers around the world.’
